FAQ Below are descriptions
and fixes for Windows 2000 and XP
|
Hide
the mouse? |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Touch-N-Go can hide the mouse for you. In the
TNG folder there is a file called mouse.txt. When
removed this file tells Touch-N-Go to act like
a music machine. It will hide the mouse only in
Touch-N-Go. Also, the driver for the touch technology
on your touch monitor can also hide the mouse. |
CD-ROM
/ Autoplay |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Every time I put in a CD, a program starts up
on top of Touch-N-Go: Windows 2000 and XP sometimes
give you an option on how to handle CD's. Most
of the time a program will be the default and
Autoplay there program. Within Windows sometimes
you can select some kind of "Do Nothing".
We have not had much success with that. To completely
prevent all CD auto playing with Windows 2000,
XP click Start, Run, Type: gpedit.msc and enter.
This is the Group Policy which is the core control
of your PC. Now click Computer Configuration,
Administrative Templates, System. Click Turn Off
Autoplay. Enable it. Select CD ROM drives. Now
click Apply. You will never be interrupted with
your Autoplay again. |
Ultra
DMA setting |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
Cannot set drive to Ultra DMA: In your Device
Manager, under IDE Controllers there is an advanced
setting that transfers data between system memory
and hardware devices without passing it through
the CPU. The "Direct Memory Access",
DMA, is very important when importing songs.
When not having this feature, importing songs
will interrupt playback and cause a lot of grief.
Most of the time this setting will be archived.
** However, if have 2 IDE devices, one slave
and one master, they can be backwards. The end
of the IDE cable has to be master and the middle
of the IDE cable must be slave. If there is
only one IDE, then it has to be master and at
the end. |

Touch
Screen Sluggish |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Touch screens are simply mouse clicks where
you touch. This technology depends on the driver
for the touch technology. Touch screen manufactures
will only use one type of touch driver technology.
We have only experienced 2 types of touch drivers,
UPD and ELO. The UPD, Universal Pointing Device,
is excellent and seems to keep up very well. However,
we have found that ELO drivers can be sluggish
during intense CPU intervals. There are settings
that can lower the priority of the CPU. By default
we set the import priority to high. Using our
password box you can change these setting at any
time.
Contact support@Touch-N-Go if you need to make
these changes.

Import
Process |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Touch-N-Go has imported 1000's of
songs without any skips or glitches. We make sure
there is no garbage when importing song into Touch-N-Go. |

| No More Auto Logon |
For some reason your PC now asks you for
user name and password at startup. Usually it
is Admin with a blank password. This is not
good if you intend to use your PC as s dedicated
music machine. If you want to bo back to a automatic
logon without having to press the enter button
when your computer starts up, do the following.
Open Regedit and search for AutoAdminLogon.
It is located in the winlogon folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. Click the AutoAdminLogon
string and change the value to 1. If the AutoAdminLogon
string is not present, then create it by clicking
Edit, New, String Value. Then make the value
be 1. **Editing the registry can cause serious
problems. If you are not familiar with regedit,
learn more first. |
